DRACUT-Maria Norminda (Docarmo) DeSousa, 82, passed away Sunday, September 2nd, at Northwood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was surrounded by her family and her beloved and devoted husband, Jose DeSousa.

Maria was born in Almada, Portugal on May 26, 1936. She is the a daughter of the late Celeste (DaConceicao) and Norberto Docarmo. She married Jose in 1960 and they immigrated to the United States in 1967. Norminda was always hard worker and was employed by TRW in Cambridge for over twenty years before retiring to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

In her free time Maria loved to cook large and delicious meals for her family. She loved to sing, dance, shop and tend to her many flowers and plants. Nothing was more important to Maria than to host numerous family gatherings. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and would often make them laugh with her funny stories.

Besides her husband, Maria is survived by her three children: Ana Christina DeSousa of Dracut, Michelle Crugnale and her husband Roberto of North Reading, Paul DeSousa and his wife Sandra of Pelham, NH. She also leaves behind her three siblings: Amelia Soares of Dracut, Victor Docarmo and his wife Angelica of Portugal and Francelina Pavia and her husband Americo of Jupiter, FL. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Paul Lewis Clarke Jr., Liana, Julia and Alyssa Crugnale, Claudia, Jacob and Grace DeSousa, her many nieces and nephews, and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Friday, September 7th, from 4-8PM in the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, Ma. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, at 9:15AM with her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30AM in St. Francis' Church, 115 Wheeler Rd. Dracut, Ma. Her burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to: https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate.
