Paul R. Pintal Sr.
FLORIDA - Paul R. Pintal, Sr., 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 25th, at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Florida. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Levasseur) Pintal of Amesbury, Massachusetts. One of five siblings, he was the oldest son of the late Leo and Jeannette (St. Onge) Pintal.

Paul was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. In 1953 he graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Lowell, then attended college at the Oblate Seminary in Bucksport, Maine. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 during the Korean War and was awarded The Commendation Ribbon for Meritorious Service in Washington, D.C. on March 24, 1958. A linguistics specialist, Paul also served as Chaplain’s Assistant. He was Honorably Discharged on December 31, 1962.

Paul married his first wife, the late Pauline (Gelinas) Pintal on December 26, 1955 and together they adopted and raised three children. Pauline was laid to rest on September 5, 1981. Paul and his second wife, Mary Jane, married in 1984 and were blessed with a son in 1987.

A well-known businessman in the Greater Lowell area for decades, Paul founded Modern Floor Service and Supply Co., Inc., also known as ModCo, in 1964. He was an active member of the Greater Lowell business community and was honored to serve as Chariman of the Lowell Heritage State Park Committee. Paul also served as a Board Member for both the Northern Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as The Home Builders Association of Greater Lowell, of which he was recognized as Life Director in 1977.

Paul enjoyed spending lake time with his family, especially at Cobbetts Pond in Windham, NH where he gave fantastic tours on his boat, and at Sebago Lake in Maine. He enjoyed entertaining and hosting family get-togethers. Always supportive of others, he coached his sons’ baseball teams in the 1970s, and in the 1990s he led support groups for The Depression Workshop, Smart Recovery, and Scared Straight. He very much enjoyed spending time with his oldest son, the late Paul R. Pintal, Jr., and his family. After retirement, he became a dealer of sports memorabilia and was known as Card Man Paul, and in recent years he was blessed to be a part of Good Samaritan Ministries in Port St. Lucie, FL.

Besides his wife Mary Jane (Levasseur) Pintal, Paul is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter-in-law, Jill (Thibeault) Pintal of Hudson, NH, his son, Scott Pintal of Northfield, NH, his daughter, Annmarie Pintal Turcotte of Amherst, NH, his son Patrick and his wife Joy of Port St. Lucie, FL, his grandchildren, Carly and Elias Pintal of Hudson, NH, Angelina and Amanda Turcotte of Amherst, NH, Rhema Pintal of Port St. Lucie, FL, his great-grandchildren, Alivia Goldberg-Pintal and Ryley Pintal of Hudson, NH, and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was pre-deceased by his four siblings, Geraldine (Pintal) Lapan Dube of Lowell, MA, Constance (Pintal) Knight of Lowell, MA, Robert Pintal of Dracut, MA, and Roger Pintal of Lowell, MA. Besides his first wife, Pauline (Gelinas) Pintal, and his son, Paul R. Pintal, Jr., Paul was also pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Marcel Turcotte of Hudson, NH.
