Ulysse J. Thibodeau, of Dracut, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Norwood Hospital. He was known to his family and friends as Yul.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Fidele and Hermeline (Duguay) Thibodeau. He was a licensed gas pipe fitter and worked for many years at Martin Welding and then Cabot Corporation until he retired.
Growing up in Canada and living on a farm, he enjoyed caring for animals and playing hockey. He was a highly recruited hockey player and was recruited to try out for the Boston Bruins. He was an avid sports fan. Yul enjoyed caring for his many goats, horses and birds over the past several years. He could build or fix almost anything and he loved helping family and friends with any project big or small. He took great pride in maintaining his property and he loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his children; Steven and his wife Linda of South Orange, NJ and Paula and her husband John Egan of North Attleboro, MA, six grandchildren; Ella and Truman Thibodeau, John, Jackson, Jenava and Jordan Egan. Five sisters; Alice Arsenault, Elaine Black, Irene Rushton, Leona Arsenault and Bernice Aucoin all of Canada, sisters-in-law; Gert Costa of Dracut, Rita Thibodeau of Whitinsville, MA and Helene Thibodeau of Gardner, MA, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Marguerite and Michael Ryan of Tyngsboro. He also leaves Dale Demers of Westboro and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his son Robert and an infant son Mark, former wife Geneva (Lally) Thibodeau, siblings; Ernest, Edmund, Edward, Eugene and Norman Thibodeau, Yvonne Ouillette, and Beatrice Fredette, and a dear friend and brother-in law Dennis Costa.
ARRANGEMENTS-Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Friday 4 to 7 pm. His funeral will take place Saturday morning at 10:30 am from the funeral home followed by His Funeral Mass at 11:30 in St. Michael’s Church, Sixth St. Lowell. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury.
