Obituary for Theresa G. Mercier (Salem)

Theresa G. Mercier (Salem)
Theresa G. (Salem) Mercier, 89, died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Ernest N. Mercier who predeceased her in 2010. They shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Paul and Fadwa Salem, she graduated from St Patrick’s Girl’s High School and Lowell Academy Hair Style Institute. For over 50 years, she was the proprietor of Theresa’s Beauty Salon located in the Centraville section of Lowell. Theresa managed the salon with consummate skill but her faithful customers knew her as a warm, dedicated, and compassionate friend.

She was a communicant of St Francis Church and well as an active member of the former St Louis Church in Lowell. She also served as a Eucharist minister at the Christian Formation Center as well as a member of the Legion of Mary.

Theresa’s family was her number one priority and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were blessed to have her as a guiding influence in their daily lives. Theresa taught them all by her own gracious example to work hard and be nice, to always help others, and to take care of each other. She happily embraced the positive in people as well as in life and always had a kind word for anyone she met.

She is survived by a son William P. Mercier of Nashua, NH; a daughter Maryann Brady and her husband Thomas Brady Jr of Dracut, MA; two grandchildren, Stephen Brady, Kathryn Farrell and her husband Peter; two great grandchildren, Matthew Brady and Delaney Farrell who very recently met her great grandmother, Theresa, on July 8, 2018; a sister, Agnes Mastrogiacomo and a brother in law, Frederick Abraham, both of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by the late Mary Makrez, Rose Nader, Jennie Mullen, Margaret Mitchell, and Florence Abraham.
