Obituary for Roger T. Gauthier
DRACUT, MA - Roger T. Gauthier, 81, died peacefully, Saturday, July 7th, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline M. (Charity) Gauthier with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Roger was born in Dracut, on September 4, 1936, a son of the late Irene (Berube) and Alfred Gauthier.
Roger was the owner of three home improvement businesses, R.T Gauthier and Sons, Gauthier Industries, and New England Shutters. In addition, he was the co-owner of his wife’s business The Town Crier Gift Shop and Furniture Store. Prior to owning his own businesses, Roger worked as a Sheet Metal Machinist at Raytheon.
Roger was an adamant New England sports fan; he dedicated his time assisting various Dracut sports. He loved to vacation; Roger spent his winters in The Villages, FL Furthermore, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Dracut and the Lowell Elks Lodge #87. However, Roger will remembered most for his endless stories and jokes.
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Gary R. Gauthier of Pittsfield, NH and Cheryl L. Cormier of Billerica; grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler and Dylan Cormier of Billerica, Jared, Janae and Justin Gauthier of Dracut, and daughter-in-law Kerry Gauthier of Dracut. Siblings; Rita and her husband Ralph Miele of Salem, NH, Germaine and her husband Raymond Woodman, Connie Gauthier and her partner Rita Toppi, Diane and her husband Ronald Daigle, and Dolores and her husband Dennis Kaplon all of Dracut, Elizabeth Quintal of Kingston, NH, and Hector and his wife Rhonda Gauthier of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Gloria Gauthier of Georgia; brother-in-law, James Spanos of Dracut; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, David M. Gauthier who passed away in 2000; brothers, Roland, Rudy, Richard, and Paul Gauthier; and sister, Theresa Spanos.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on THURSDAY, July 12th, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA. His funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9 a.m. with his Funeral Mass to follow at St. Michael's Church in Lowell on FRIDAY, July 13th at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelmsford.
