Louis E.  Berard
Dracut- Louis E. Berard, 93, a long-time resident of Dracut, passed away on Saturday, May 12th, peacefully at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine H. (Michaud) Berard, who passed away in November of 2006.

Louis was born in Lowell, on February 27, 1925 a son of the late Theresa (Lauzier) and William Berard. He was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1943. Upon his graduation, Louis enlisted in the Airforce. He served his country proudly during WWII as a member of the B17 100th bomb group, 418th squadron. He was honorable discharged and upon his return home, he attended Burdette College in Boston. He was employed as an Insurance Agent for 21 years prior to his retirement in 1987.

In his free time, Louis spent many hours volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America. Louis also was a founding member of the Dracut Lions Club. When he was not with the Boys Scouts or the Lions Club, he could be found volunteering at the Dracut Public Schools to administers hearing tests.

Louis is survived and will be deeply missed by his 5 sons: Raymond Berard and his wife Anna Varnanskus of Darien, CT, Paul Berard and his wife Leona (Rancourt) of Westford, Robert Berard and his with Susan (Asselin) of Lowell, David Berard of Canterbury, NH, and Philip Berard and his wife Laurie (Perron) of Dracut, MA. He also leaves his 5 siblings: Jeanette Lecourse of Chelmsford, Henrietta Chenelle of Dracut, Florence Reynolds of FL., Rolande Nagle of Chelmsford, and Pauline Page of Lowell. He is also survived by his 15 Grandchildren: Nicole, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Renee, David, Jason, Noelle, William, Paul Jr., Andrew, Adrienne, Carl, Amy, Martin and Amanada, his 10 Great Grandchildren: William, Ava, Jordan, Aiden, Zachary, Isabella, Boston, Cody, Grace, and Zachary, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his brother George Berard and sisters Helen Denommee, Lucille McCarron, and Madeline Belanger.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, May 21st, from 2-7pm, in the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 22nd, at 9AM followed by his funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsboro, MA. Burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery, Dracut MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Key Foundation Inc. to benefit Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation can be made at http://keyfoundation.org.
