Obituary for Harriet Geulakos (Papafagos)

Harriet  Geulakos (Papafagos)
DRACUT- Hariklia "Harriet (Papafagos) Geulakos, died peacefully, Monday, February 12th, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Sotiros Geulakos, with whom she celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Harriet was born in Skala, Laconia Greece, the daughter of the late Stella ( Houmpavlis ) and Demetrios Papafagos.

In her free time Harriet had a great love for her church, The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church. She served the Lowell Parish and the Dracut Parish since 1965. She was President of the Philoptochos Society, received the Missionary Metropolis Award by the Archbishop of Boston, and the Rev. Michael Kastanas Award. and of course she helped with their Greek Festival. Harriet would light up the skies with her Christmas light displays, loved to go to the casinos and she spent many hours working in her garden growing beautiful flowers and an abundance of vegetables.

Harriet is survived and will be deeply missed by her Four children: Patricia Geulakos of Florida, James Sr. and his wife Cynthia of Londonderry, NH., Susan and her husband Joseph Pennace of Andover, and Paul and his wife Lisa Geulakos of Tyngsboro. Her seven Grandchildren: Nathanial Stuart of Fl.,Joseph and Zachary Pennace of Andover, James Jr., and Britany Bonvie of NH., Angela Geulakos and Marcin Maj of Ma., her two Great Grandchilden Gavin and Mikayla Geulakos of NH., Her brothers Athanansios Papafagos and Theodora of NH.,Andreas, Calope, and George Papafagos of Greece, her sister Fotene and George Pitarys of NH. She also leaves her cousins Tim and Liz Greenwood of Ma., Katina and Arthur Skambas of Ma., and a special thanks to Donna Smith of NH and Bridgette Meehan of Circle Home for all of her help.

ARRANGEMENTS:: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, February 15th, from 4 - 7PM at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, Ma. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9AM with her Funeral Service to follow at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Road, Dracut, on Friday, February 16th at 10AM. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell, Ma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harriet's memory to: Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Rd, Dracut, Ma. 01826.
