Obituary for John J. "Jack" Laird

John J. "Jack"  Laird
DRACUT- John J. “Jack" Laird, 87, of Dracut, passed away, Tuesday, January 23rd, at Northwood Rehab in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine M. (Douglas) Laird, who passed away November of 2012.

He was born in Lowell, on December 25th, 1930, the son of the late Mary (Toohey) and Leo R. Laird. He graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1949. After his graduation he enlisted in the U.S.Army and served his country proudly during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954.

John worked as a Foreman, for H.E. Fletcher Granite Company of Westford retiring after 49 years, and he then worked Security for Lowell Memorial Auditorium, after his retirement.

In his free time John was a busy man. He was an usher for St. Patrick's Church of Lowell for over 25 years. He was a Life Time member of the East End Club, where he was voted Man of the Year in 1995.

John is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughters: Mary Moloney of Hudson, NH., and Kathy (Laird) Janusis and her husband Charles of Tyngsboro, his Granddaughter Jacqueline Janusis of Tyngsboro, and he also leaves many nieces and nephews.

John was the youngest of six children who all Predecease him: Anne Greene, L. Robert Laird, Dorothy Hadfield, Esther Degan and Patricia Gearin.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Northwwod Rehab for the comfort and care that they gave to John.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 27th, from 8:30 to 9:15AM in the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, Ma. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM in St. Patrick's Church, 282 Suffolk St., Lowell, Ma., followed by his burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury.
